What Are The Most Important Things For Automotive LED Bulbs?

If it’s time to upgrade your bulbs, then going LED is one of the best options on the market. HID is good too, but in this article we’re going to talk about LED bulbs. You’ll learn what the most important characteristics are for automotive LED bulbs.

The first characteristic you want to look out for in your new pair of LED bulbs is a custom designed fitment.

This is very important. A custom designed LED bulb to your OEM light housing will ensure it works exactly as your hoping for. If the LED bulbs are custom designed for your reflector style light housings, then you can expect them to fit correctly and work excellently. Not to mention, you’ll enjoy a superb beam pattern.

The problem occurs when customers buy LED bulbs that are sold as universal fitment bulbs. This is an issue because you never know what you’re going to receive when you click the purchase button on an universal-fit pair of LED bulbs. Spend your money wisely and purchase a set custom designed for your vehicle. It’s the best option.

Ensure you’re getting the light output you want.

Some LED bulbs have low wattage and others have high wattage that can compete with HID bulbs. Check the watts per bulb and get the appropriate LED bulbs. If you want something normal, then 35 watts per bulb is ideal. If you want super bright LED bulbs, then look for something over 60 watts per bulb. You can even find 80 watts per bulb on the market.

Additionally, check if the beam pattern has been tested and proven to cause little to no glare.

Read reviews and check their social media channels. They should have past customers who have commented on the performance of their products.

Who is going to install the LED bulbs for you? If you plan to do the job yourself in your garage/ driveway, then check for aplug and play installation. There are plenty of LED bulbs that offer quick and easy plug and play installations. There are also plenty of other brands that require wires and adapters to install their bulbs. It’s up to you to buy the LED bulb set that best suits your needs.

What kind of weather do you frequently drive in and how much do you drive during the nighttime? This is an important question to ask yourself. If you drive during the nighttime plenty of hours per week, then you’re going to require high usage of your new LED bulbs. If that’s the case, then you’re going to need to buy a set of LED bulbs with the strongest cooling system. That’s the aluminum heat sink paired with a small fan. If you don’t drive much during the nighttime, then you can get away with an LED bulb that comes with a less efficient cooling system.

If you’re eager to installed brighter LED bulbs on your vehicle, then it’s a good idea to pay attention to the most important characteristics pointed out in this article. Need a recommendation? Leave a comment below and we’ll give you one.

"My ’22 JLUR came with the standard carpet mats and I’ve had them in for the last 8 months. Living in Utah and having to deal with snow, wet shoes/boots, dirt from Moab, and dirty dog paws I wanted something that keeps the dirt/grime/snow, etc contained and is easy to clean. Trying to get my wife’s hair or the dog’s hair out of the carpet floor mats is impossible."
