2012 VW Jetta TDI High Beams

Anyone who puts these in the low beam position should be forced to sit in front of them with their eyelids pinned open!! They are bright and you are being severely rude to dazzle others if you use these in the low beam spot.

That said, you'll need a pair of TK001 adapters for these to fit. I also used a dewalt right angle adapter for the impact driver (they have a few models but the one with the flexible shaft meant for the impact driver is what I used) and a Torx 20 bit. I had to pull the collars off the bulbs and attach them with the adapter to the housing, to do that I needed to remove the two T20 screws from the socket housing and place the collar and TK001 and then screw them in place as it was too difficult to turn the adapter and collar to lock them in. I'll also suggest hitting the corner of the bulb's ear that locks it to the collar as it can be difficult to get it started on the collar once it's mounted.

Mine needed to get aimed higher and for that you'll need a 4mm socket (only set I had that was small enough was a Kobalt deep well 1/4" drive set) and a hex wrench that's perhaps 6mm or 5mm in size. There might be two plastic little buttons/plugs you need to remove from your lights to access the torx head screws (need the 4mm socket to turn or a Torx socket that is small enough). Mine were removed long ago as the lights were aimed severely low. Plugs might be white or might be black and are on the upper outside parts of the light housings on the back.

Pull up to a garage door and stay 20 feet away or so with the low beams on, use some painters tape and mark the top left corners of the light pattern so you know the height and left aim, reverse if you drive on the wrong side of the road!!
Aiming the VW lights, and this was the same on the 2018 VW Atlas too so it's probably used elsewhere in their lineup. The low and high beams are tied together and when you adjust one up or down you adjust both, left and right is only the low beam. So in order to aim the high beam up you must adjust the main hex adjuster on the bottom until you get the high beam where you want it and then you shut the brights off and use the 4mm socket and the left right hex adjuster (in a hole in the fender you reach from the top) and adjust the 4mm to do the height and then the hex to move it left or right. The 4mm socket screws an adjustment that is on the diagonal so when moving it, it will shift the light right or left so it's imperative that you adjust the left and right to get the beam in the corner of the tape.

Then go for a drive and test out the beam. Mine needed to get raised 2 full turns but 3 might have been decent, 4 was coon shining territory though!! I often travel and have the car loaded down so I figured 2 is the best of empty and full so that's what I went with.

If the beam is too high or low then pull back up to the garage with the low beams on and park so the beams are nested in the corner of the painters tape and repeat until it's where you like!

If you do low beams (please don't be that ahole!!!) then it's just the two hex adjusters.

    Does what it’s supposed to.

Product works like it’s supposed to. Only issue is that it’s a bit difficult to hold on to the collar while fitting the adapter. Be careful not to drop it while handling.
