Today, we’re sharing a story that reminds Lasfit team members why we do what we do — Lasfit is not just a company, but a team that truly cares about our customers. This is the story of @Mark Schoolcraft, our hood lock on his Jeep Gladiator, and how a stubborn hood lock issue turned into a moment of real connection.
It all started on July 4th, when Mark reached out to us about his hood lock not responding. From the beginning, Mark was detailed, patient, and determined — something we unexpected and deeply appreciate here at Lasfit.
Our customer Service, Vichan, jumped right in. She first walked Mark through basic troubleshooting: checking the emergency switch and reseating the CAN bus cable. When that didn’t resolve the issue, Vichan suggested re-plugging the power cord in the fuse box under the steering wheel.
Mark, being the hands-on Jeep enthusiast that he is, followed every step, even more troubleshooting than we can consider — despite temperatures rising and hood locks being tricky under the summer sun. After some back and forth, we suspected a faulty control box. No hesitation — we shipped a replacement right away to his address in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
But the story didn't end there.
When the new unit arrived, Mark installed it first thing in the morning (to beat the heat!). Still, the hood lock refused to engage properly. Not one to give up, Mark went above and beyond — he even disconnected both batteries to allow the system to reset. Now that’s what we call a unswerving determination!
It turned out the issue was complicated than we initially thought, so we didn't provide a final solution correctly. After reviewing his order history, we noticed the product was out of the warranty period. But here at Lasfit, we trust our customers and believe in doing what’s right — not just what’s required.
So we made a decision: we sent Mark a full new hood lock system — free of charge.
Why? Because customers like Mark remind us that the trust and support of our customers are of the utmost value, He stayed patient. He trusted the process. And we wanted to honor that.
On August 12, Mark wrote back with the news we’d been hoping for:
“I finally got time enough to finish the installation of the hood lock. It’s working great. I can’t thank you enough for seeing this through to the end. Your company’s reputation is well intact with me.”
He is also very kind — leaving us a glowing Google review and sharing his experience on the Jeep Gladiator Forum, as shown screenshots below.
