Lasfit Official |

Welcome to our blog about H11/H8/H9 LED Bulbs! The selection and replacement of automotive headlights is critical to driving safety and comfort. In this article, we will give you a detailed introduction to some necessary knowledge of H8 bulbs, H9 bulbs and H11 bulbs, and help you understand the differences and installation methods of these three specifications of bulbs. Whether you're looking to replace existing light bulbs, upgrade to LED lighting, or make post-purchase adjustments, this blog has helpful information for you.

1. Purpose of Use

H11, H8, and H9 are common car headlight bulb sizes, and these bulbs are lighting fixtures that are often used to replace traditional car bulbs. Conventional cars are often equipped with halogen and HID lamps, while LED bulbs are an emerging type of aftermarket. They use LED light sources to provide high brightness, low power consumption, long life, and environmentally friendly lighting, and are widely used in cars, trucks, motorcycles, and other vehicles.

Compared with traditional halogen bulbs, LED bulbs have higher brightness and longer life, and can provide better lighting effects. Using H11, H8 or H9 LED bulbs can bring clearer and brighter light, enabling drivers to see the road ahead and obstacles more clearly, improving visibility and safety of night driving. In addition, LED bulbs can better present road signs and traffic signals, improving the driver's ability to judge the road ahead. Therefore, using H11, H8 and H9 LED bulbs can bring drivers a better driving experience and driving safety.

2. Socket / Size Compatibility

The power cord and socket for H8/H9/H11 LED bulbs are universal. The only difference between the three is the width of the PIN pin on the power cord and the width of the clips on the card holder. Individual users may need to adjust the spacing of the PIN pins during installation.

3.H8 vs H9 vs H11: What's The Differences

Bulb Type Socket Type Typical Use(Cars/SUVs/Trucks) Power(LED, approx.) Brightness Potential
H11 LED H11

Low beam / fog light

25–65W (varies by brand)

Highest among the three (often up to 500–700% over halogen)

H9 LED H9

High beam / some low beams

20–55W (varies by brand)

High (generally above H8)

H8 LED H8

Fog light / some low beams

15–35W (varies by brand)

Moderate–High

The main difference between H11, H8, and H9 LED bulbs lies in their socket size and power. While they are similar in function, H11 bulbs are generally more powerful than H8 and H9. These variations in size and power accommodate different vehicle models and lighting designs, so it’s crucial to select the right socket type for optimal compatibility and performance.

LED bulbs offer several advantages over traditional bulbs. They are more energy-efficient, have a longer lifespan (tens of thousands of hours vs. a few thousand), and provide better brightness and color reproduction, enhancing safety and visibility. However, they can be more expensive, require higher voltage, and may affect battery life. In extreme temperatures, LED bulbs can sometimes be problematic.

In summary, while LED bulbs offer superior efficiency, longevity, and safety, cost and vehicle compatibility should be considered. As technology advances and costs decrease, LEDs are expected to become the standard for vehicle headlights, significantly improving driving performance and safety.

4.Supported Vehicles

H11/H8/H9 LED bulbs can be installed on many types of vehicles, including cars, SUVs, trucks, buses, etc. They have high brightness and long service life, which can improve the safety performance of vehicles. However, when installing, it needs to be matched according to the vehicle's circuit and lamp specifications to ensure safety and effectiveness. It is recommended to consult a professional or refer to the relevant manual of the vehicle before installation.

I have a RV which has separate low and high beams. The current bulbs are a H9 and both are 65 watt. The light housings are separate and different inside. The RV is a Thor Challenger on a Ford Chassis. What set of LED light do I need?
